Bricks

Old rustic reclaimed bricks can be a great feature used within or on the exterior of a dwelling. Reclaimed bricks also look particularly attractive in garden features. They can be centuries old, handmade or wire cuts. Often reclaimed bricks will have finger marks from the person that made them giving them a real sense of history. Brand new concrete bricks with a red brick dye are no real substitute and not in the same league.

Ideally old reclaimed bricks have an inconsistent mixture when made, and are then inconsistently fired. This, with a hundred years or so of weathering, gives them their lovely mellow and restful look.
