The front door is usually the most eye-catching feature of the house, and altering or replacing it without due forethought is all too often disastrous. The mock Georgian door with built in fanlight is painfully unauthentic, and will look wrong anywhere. Interior doors also need to be looked at carefully in relation to the style of their surroundings. Cheap modern doors in a baldly utilitarian style will look totally out of place if the rest of the interior has well-judged period details.
