Up until the end of the 17th Century, wrought iron was the preferred choice for latches, hinges and door handles. Simple, attractive and effective. The 'strap and pin' was probably the ealiest type of hinge followed by the 'H' hinge. The ealiest external doors tended not to have handles as they were only closed at night and barred with wood on the inside. Simple latches like our 'Glastonbury Latch' then became common-place and still hold their own today. Stock includes h hinges, t hinges, strap hinges, latches, catches, hooks, hangers, nails, shutter catches, bow hinges, pull handles, bolts, cranked bolts and the like.
